R&D Manager (SaaS)

Location: Remote role associated with the United States and Canada; US-CO-Remote Location listed. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $150,000–$234,375 USD per year in the US, or $118,073–$208,294 CAD per year in Canada, plus eligibility for bonuses, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage operations, staffing, priorities, delivery execution, and technical contributors for a software R&D team.
• Lead people management, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Direct development and delivery of SaaS applications, analytics, monitoring capabilities, data pipelines, integrations, and enterprise software.
• Partner with product, architecture, quality, SRE, support, IT, marketing, and other stakeholders to align delivery with business and product priorities.
• Identify delivery risks, technical issues, dependencies, and resource constraints, driving mitigation and corrective action.
• Establish agile operating practices that improve planning, predictability, quality, communication, engineering excellence, and customer impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of formal or informal leadership of people, projects, programs, or technical delivery teams.
• Experience leading software development or technical delivery in SaaS, enterprise applications, analytics, monitoring, data platforms, laboratory informatics, or related digital products.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, agile delivery, release planning, sustaining support, and cross-functional product development.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, prioritization, ambiguity resolution, and people-development skills.
• Remote work is associated with US and Canadian locations; the posting lists US-CO-Remote Location.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, laboratory informatics, scientific instruments, services, or regulated enterprise environments.
• Experience with laboratory operations, asset management, service management, monitoring, analytics, or customer-facing digital platforms.
• Familiarity with data-centric architectures, batch or streaming pipelines, data models, integration patterns, cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, containerization, CI/CD, and DevOps.
• Experience with AI/ML concepts, predictive analytics, IoT/edge systems, telemetry ingestion, digital twins, or data-driven laboratory operations.
