Production Technician (Fusion Energy)

Location: On-site in Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; third shift, 10:00 pm–7:00 am

Salary: $30–$41 per hour plus a 15% shift differential

What you will do

• Build electromechanical parts and assemblies for superconducting magnets.
• Perform production builds according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
• Operate production, testing, and high-powered magnet equipment.
• Read assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing discrepancies and recommend process improvements.
• Work with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and other teams to qualify manufacturing processes and meet production goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 years of experience with hand tools.
• At least 6 years of mechanical or electrical assembly experience.
• Ability to work the third shift and occasionally work nights, weekends, on-call hours, or travel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work around heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenic materials.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with winding equipment, PLCs, material processing, or cryogenic chemicals such as liquid nitrogen and helium.
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring, harness builds, soldering, epoxy potting, injection molding, plumbing, or vacuum systems.
• Experience with basic power tools and hands-on assembly and testing.
