Digital Assignment Editor (Broadcast News)

KOIN-TV is hirify.global's Portland CBS affiliate, producing local broadcast and digital news for Oregon and Southwest Washington.

What you will do

• Organize and assign daily stories across broadcast, digital platforms, and the KOIN+ streaming app.
• Coordinate and dispatch field crews to breaking and scheduled news events.
• Monitor scanners, wires, releases, email, and social media to identify and vet story leads.
• Pitch, write, plan, and produce original digital stories, interviews, explainers, recurring segments, and behind-the-scenes content.
• Keep the newsroom informed about breaking and developing stories while maintaining daily news logs.
• Collaborate with Nexstar affiliates, CBS NewsPath, and content partners on story sharing and coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree; TV, film, or equivalent experience may substitute.
• At least two years of television broadcast, production, or digital content experience.
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify compelling, audience-focused stories.
• Excellent organization, multitasking, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to make quick decisions, remain calm under pressure, lead while collaborating, and adapt to a fast-paced news environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnights.
