Associate Editor, Social, NBC News Digital

Location: Hybrid, based in New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA; minimum four days per week in the office, Monday-Friday, starting at 1pm ET

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 per year

What you will do

• Distribute breaking news and original reporting across Facebook, X, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Instagram.
• Write accurate, compelling headlines and platform-specific social copy.
• Work with art, photo, data graphics, and social video teams to create graphics, select visuals, and distribute original video.
• Repackage stories for different social platforms and identify timely, shareable moments.
• Track audience behavior to inform promotion and distribution strategy.
• Occasionally curate NBCNews.com and app content.

Requirements

• At least one year of social media experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent comparable work experience.
• Excellent writing skills, solid news judgment, and a creative eye.
• Experience creating shareable content and basic knowledge of graphic design.
• Experience with newsroom tools such as TrueAnthem, Social Flow, Chartbeat, or Parse.ly.
• Must be based in New York or Los Angeles and work from the office at least four days per week.

Nice to have

• Basic knowledge of Premiere Pro and video editing.
