Associate Editor, Social, NBC News Digital

Location: Hybrid in New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA; office attendance required at least four days per week, Monday-Friday, starting at 1pm ET.

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 per year

What you will do

• Distribute original reporting and breaking news across NBC News social accounts.
• Write accurate, compelling headlines and platform-specific social copy.
• Collaborate with art, photo, data graphics, and social video teams to create graphics and distribute original video.
• Select visuals, identify shareable news moments, and support live event coverage.
• Repackage stories for Facebook, X, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Reddit, Instagram, and other platforms.
• Track audience behavior and occasionally curate NBCNews.com homepage and app content.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working in social media.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent comparable work experience.
• Excellent writing skills, solid news judgment, and a creative eye.
• Experience creating shareable content and basic knowledge of graphic design.
• Experience with newsroom tools such as TrueAnthem, Social Flow, Chartbeat, or Parse.ly.
• Ability to work in New York or Los Angeles in the required hybrid schedule.

Nice to have

• Basic knowledge of Premiere Pro and video editing.
