Complex Claims Specialist (Remote)

What you will do

• Handle complex coverage issues and liability claims across all lines of business.
• Investigate claims through communication with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses, and other relevant parties.
• Evaluate losses, negligence, exposures, and settlement options within delegated authority.
• Manage litigation activities, budgets, vendors, experts, trials, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
• Prepare significant-exposure reports for claims, underwriting, reinsurance, and actuarial stakeholders.
• Provide training, collaboration, and thought leadership while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of casualty claims-handling experience, including at least 5 years handling complex cases with a primary property and casualty carrier.
• Experience with complex commercial general liability claims and large-loss evaluations.
• Strong coverage analysis, strategic negotiation, problem-solving, presentation, and litigation-management skills.
• College degree required; JD preferred.
• Multi-state licensing and knowledge of Medicare reporting and compliance are preferred.
• Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to drive an automobile are required; travel may include 10–25% driving and approximately 10% air travel with overnight stays.
