Associate General Counsel (Healthcare Technology)

Location: New York City office; office-first with in-person collaboration 4 days per week

Salary: $200,000–$280,000 annual base salary plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Build and scale legal infrastructure, including frameworks, templates, processes, and contract systems.
• Review and negotiate commercial agreements such as SaaS SOWs, MSAs, BAAs, vendor agreements, and partnership structures.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and advise the CFO and executive leadership on legal risk and business decisions.
• Establish compliance and regulatory frameworks for sensitive patient data, working with specialized outside counsel on HIPAA and data privacy matters.
• Design legal intake, triage, turnaround, and escalation processes that enable proactive legal support.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of legal experience, ideally including in-house experience at a technology or healthcare technology company.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and a license to practice law in New York or another U.S. jurisdiction.
• Deep experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, including SaaS SOWs, MSAs, BAAs, vendor agreements, and partnership structures.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy, including the ability to identify issues and engage specialized outside counsel.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity, make sound risk decisions, and explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong executive presence, cross-functional partnership skills, and a builder’s mentality focused on creating scalable systems and processes.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or digital health.
• Familiarity with CCPA, CPRA, and evolving AI and data governance frameworks.
• Experience supporting fundraising rounds, equity management, or board governance.
• Prior experience as a company’s first or sole in-house counsel.
