People Business Partner

Location: Remote, with a preference for candidates based in the San Diego, CA area who can be in person 2–4 days per month.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year.

What you will do

• Partner with people managers on performance conversations, team dynamics, and leadership challenges.
• Own and evolve performance management, including review strategies, KPIs, expectations, and performance improvement support.
• Develop compensation strategy, analyze market data, administer merit and bonus cycles, and partner with finance on commission plans.
• Identify and resolve workplace issues affecting engagement, productivity, and morale.
• Design and deliver people manager training and development programs.
• Lead employee relations matters and workplace investigations in line with company policies and legal requirements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of HR experience, including 3+ years in an HR Business Partner role.
• Experience owning compensation administration and evolving compensation strategy.
• Experience designing and improving performance management methodologies.
• Experience independently managing employee relations and conducting workplace investigations.
• Ability to coach and influence people managers while managing competing priorities independently.
• Based in the San Diego, CA area and able to attend in person 2–4 days per month preferred.

Nice to have

• SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification.
• Experience in a fast-paced, early-stage startup.
