Senior Software Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote, must be based in Colombia; significant overlap with US business hours required, Monday-Friday 9-5 ET.

Salary: $50 USD per hour; contract engagement with an expected workload that may approximate 40 hours per week.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate highly available, multi-region AWS infrastructure with redundancy, failover, replication, and disaster recohirify.global.
• Define and maintain infrastructure as code using AWS CDK and Terraform.
• Build and scale complex event-driven, microservice-based systems.
• Develop features across backend, frontend, and cloud components using Python, Node.js, TypeScript, and React.
• Own testing automation, deployments, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production diagnostics.
• Participate in code reviews, client engineering rituals, knowledge sharing, and a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Must be based in Colombia.
• Professional English fluency and significant overlap with US business hours are required.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience and a BS or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep hands-on experience designing, building, and operating production systems on AWS, including multi-region architectures.
• Proficiency with AWS CDK and/or Terraform, full software development lifecycle practices, and production system operations.
• Experience with event-driven microservices, reliability, observability, security, backend development, data modeling, SQL, and CI/CD automation.

Nice to have

• Ad tech experience, including RTB, real-time auctions, SSPs, DSPs, ad exchanges, header bidding, or Prebid.
• Experience working in embedded client teams, staff augmentation, consulting, or distributed environments.
