What you will do

• Teach World History, US History, American Government, and Economics in preparation for AP and college-level coursework.
• Facilitate student-led discussions, peer debates, and evidence-based analysis of historical topics.
• Develop students' argumentation, corroboration, inquiry, historiography, analytical writing, and source-analysis skills.
• Build an inclusive classroom where students can express evidence-based opinions and perspectives.
• Analyze student work and assessment data with school leaders and adapt instruction for diverse learners.
• Partner with families, grade-level teams, and the History department to support student achievement and school culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
• Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or the Humanities.
• Demonstrated commitment to students' social-emotional and academic development.
• Interest in supporting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• If not holding an education degree, enrollment in a teacher preparation program and maintenance of a GPA of at least 2.5 are required.
• Eligibility for New York State certification and certification within a reasonable period after starting employment are required.
