Senior HVAC Technician (HVAC)

Location: Newark, New Jersey, USA; onsite work across New Jersey facilities

What you will do

• Inspect, maintain, diagnose, repair, and modify HVAC systems in school and commercial buildings.
• Respond to emergency HVAC issues, restore systems to safe working condition, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
• Lead minor HVAC projects and coordinate larger mechanical construction and repair projects with facilities staff, consultants, and outside vendors.
• Maintain work-order records, technical documentation, and preventive and corrective maintenance history.
• Support Facilities Managers and General Maintenance Workers on projects and special assignments.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure project timelines, quality standards, and applicable codes are followed.

Requirements

• At least seven years of relevant HVAC experience, including four or more years as a head technician or equivalent progressive responsibility.
• Journeyman-level knowledge of HVAC systems, commercial heating, hot water boilers, gas furnaces, heat pumps, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and glycol systems.
• Advanced knowledge of BMS systems and the ability to read construction drawings, as-built plans, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Current EPA card authorizing refrigerant handling, plus a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
• Knowledge of National Standard HVAC and Plumbing Codes, OSHA requirements, and applicable life-safety codes.
• Must be available for onsite work across New Jersey, including nights, weekends, and after-hours emergency calls when necessary.

Nice to have

• New Jersey low-pressure black seal boiler, HVAC, or related certificate, training, or license.
• Experience with multi-family housing, schools, and commercial buildings.
