Project Engineer - Automation (Power Systems)

What you will do

• Apply power system automation knowledge and SEL products to complete complex engineering assignments.
• Lead customers through the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.
• Manage work within agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Support proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
• Mentor and develop professional staff and supervise when required.
• Travel domestically and internationally at least 25% based on the assigned focus area.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and a relevant focus area.
• Knowledge of power system protection and control, integration, automation, communications, system design, studies, and protective relay applications.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills, with the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification.
• Experience in electrical utilities, industrial plants, consulting engineering, or system integration.
• Project management experience and working knowledge of Vision or similar project-tracking software.
• Experience with industrial controls, PLCs, IEC 61850, DNP, Modbus, Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and SCADA practices.
