TL;DR
Design Drafter (3D Scanning/SolidWorks): Creating and maintaining 3D models, 2D mechanical drawings, technical publication graphics, and technical data packages for Army aviation repair development and reverse engineering with an accent on metrology, additive manufacturing, and digital-to-physical workflows. Focus on converting scan data into CAD models, developing prototypes and repairs, and supporting final part inspection.
Location: Corpus Christi, Texas, United States; in-person, 8 hours per day, Monday–Friday

What you will do
- Support repair development and reverse engineering efforts in the CREATE Lab using metrology and additive manufacturing equipment.
- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
- Follow digital-to-physical and physical-to-digital workflows, from 3D scanning through inspection and technical data package generation.
- Create graphics for technical publications and support prototyping and repair development.
- Coordinate closely with engineers, programmers, analysts, and management while keeping current with emerging technologies.
Requirements
- At least three years of hands-on experience with 3D scanning, modeling, metrology, inspection, and reverse engineering.
- Experience converting scan data into 3D CAD models and using SolidWorks.
- Experience with additive manufacturing, 3D printing, slicing software, repair development, prototyping, and technical data package generation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Department of War security clearance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and availability to travel up to 15% of the time.
Nice to have
- Associate degree or higher in computer science, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, drafting technology, or mechanical design.
- Experience with Cura, Zeiss Quality Suite, Creaform.OS 2, Geomagic Design X, GelSight Mobile, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication processes.
