Mechanical CAD Drafter (Aerospace)

Location: Fully onsite at the GravityWorks factory in Centennial, Colorado or Long Beach, California; work includes office and production-floor environments.

Hourly salary rate: $24.00–$62.50 USD, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Create piece-part and assembly drawings for flight hardware, ground support equipment, and structural components using NX.
• Translate engineering inputs, sketches, and verbal direction into accurate, manufacturable technical drawings and CAD models.
• Maintain drawing and model revisions through engineering changes, design reviews, manufacturing feedback, and configuration management processes.
• Develop spacecraft assembly storyboards, work instructions, drawing packages, and technical documentation for PDR, CDR, and TRR reviews.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, electrical, and structural engineers, as well as manufacturing and integration teams.
• Provide drawing guidance to production teams and, at senior levels, own complex multi-level drawing packages and improve drafting processes.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field, or at least 2 years of professional mechanical drafting or aerospace engineering support experience.
• Working knowledge of mechanical GD&T and its application to manufactured parts and assemblies.
• Proficiency in NX (Siemens); SolidWorks experience is acceptable.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, complex engineering diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing tasks in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance and meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility for required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, spacecraft, satellite hardware, or another regulated industry.
• Experience with assembly storyboarding, work instructions, PLM or configuration management systems such as Windchill or Teamcenter.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5, MIL-STD-100, design reviews, and formal drawing packages.
• Comfort working directly with manufacturing and integration teams in office and production-floor settings.
