Drafter (4001)

Location: Remote with the ability to report onsite as needed at the Materials and Fuels Complex at Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls, Idaho. US citizenship is required. Schedule: four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mountain Time.

What you will do

• Prepare complex new drawings and revise existing drawings using 2D line work and 3D modeling.
• Determine dimensions, components, tolerances, design parameters, and installation requirements with project and design engineers.
• Perform geometric and tolerance stack-up calculations and apply GD&T practices.
• Support field documentation, as-built drawings, construction, and fabrication improvements.
• Maintain CAD models and data in Creo, AutoCAD, and company-specific product data and lifecycle management systems.
• Check and red-line drafting work, mentor less experienced drafters, and report progress to project and line management.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or vocational certificate in drafting/design, CAD, or engineering technology.
• At least seven years of relevant drafting experience, including checking or red-lining work or serving in a lead drafter capacity.
• At least three years of experience using Creo.
• Knowledge of ANSI, ASME, and MIL-STD drafting requirements, including ANSI/ASME Y14 standards.
• Working knowledge of GD&T according to ASME Y14.5-2009 or a later edition, including the ability to teach and correct its use.
• Ability to work remotely, report onsite to Idaho National Laboratory as needed, work the MFC 4x10 schedule, and meet the US citizenship requirement.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with American Welding Society symbols and procedures.
• Experience with CAD standards and product data or product lifecycle management systems.
• Experience mentoring drafters, checking or red-lining their work, and supporting field documentation and as-built drawings.
