TL;DR
Machining Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and scaling high-reliability machining, automated assembly, anodizing, inspection, and cleaning processes for advanced automotive, aerospace, and defense hardware with an accent on CNC programming, tooling, fixturing, metrology, and design for manufacturing. Focus on integrating production equipment, solving complex shop-floor challenges, reducing cycle time and scrap, and building repeatable workflows for scalable manufacturing.

Location: Long Beach or Torrance, California, United States. This is a hands-on onsite position involving extended standing and direct work with production-floor hardware. Occasional travel, long hours, or weekend work may be required.

Salary: $91,800–$168,300 USD per year, depending on job level.

What you will do

  • Own daily production execution and resolve issues directly with production-floor teams to maintain throughput.
  • Develop and continuously improve machining, automated assembly, automated anodize, inspection, and cleaning work centers.
  • Collaborate on 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis CNC mill programming using Siemens NX CAM.
  • Develop tooling, fixturing, setup documentation, calibration procedures, and standardized programming strategies.
  • Support machine, equipment, tooling, and fixturing selection, commissioning, and integration into production.
  • Analyze production data, identify root causes of scrap and delays, and implement corrective actions and real-time feedback loops.

Requirements

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace or defense industries.
  • Hands-on experience with machining, additive manufacturing, coatings, robotics, inspection, and quality processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as Siemens NX and AutoCAD, with advanced knowledge of CNC machining, GD&T, tooling, and metrology.
  • Experience selecting and commissioning machines, solving production problems, and collaborating across engineering, software, data, and production teams.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience with robotic machining systems and calibration methodologies.
  • Experience with manufacturing automation in automotive or aerospace environments.
