TL;DR
Software Engineer (DEA) - Java Developer & Pega Integration (Java/Pega/DevSecOps): Developing, integrating, testing, deploying, and maintaining secure Java applications for the DEA investigative case-management ecosystem with an accent on Pega integration, scalable architecture, and federal cybersecurity compliance. Focus on building CI/CD pipelines, troubleshooting high-reliability systems, integrating REST and SOAP APIs, and supporting FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP High, CJIS, and Zero Trust requirements.

Location: Arlington, VA; primarily onsite at DEA Headquarters

What you will do

  • Design, develop, test, debug, optimize, and maintain production-ready Java applications for the DEA investigative case-management ecosystem.
  • Integrate Java applications with Pega workflows, services, APIs, and other enterprise or federal systems.
  • Support application builds, integrations, releases, deployments, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and configuration management.
  • Collaborate with Pega developers, QA engineers, DevOps personnel, product owners, and other stakeholders in Agile sprint delivery.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, technical documentation, and software lifecycle activities.
  • Support security, reliability, interoperability, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization in a federal environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development, DevSecOps, application engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong Java development skills and experience building production-ready applications.
  • Experience with Pega or integrating Java applications with Pega-based workflows, services, or APIs.
  • Experience with Git, branching, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD, software deployment, Agile development, testing, debugging, and defect resolution.
  • Top Secret (SCI) clearance is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Pega PRPC, Pega BPM, REST or SOAP integrations, or Pega CSA/CSSA certifications.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, centralized logging, automated testing, or continuous monitoring.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government applications and formal cybersecurity or compliance requirements.
