Java Engineer I

Location: Hybrid in Rosslyn, Virginia, with onsite work twice a week

Salary: $70,000–$110,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain Java backend microservices for distributed, cloud-native systems.
• Implement API endpoints, business logic, RESTful APIs, and event-driven data flows.
• Develop features for OpenFGA data model management.
• Write unit and integration tests, debug defects, and maintain reliable operational workflows.
• Participate in code reviews, team ceremonies, documentation, and onboarding support.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and continuous monitoring.

Requirements

• Secret clearance is required before starting.
• 1–3 years of professional experience.
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with core AWS services.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice to have

• Experience collaborating with AI, DevSecOps, data engineering, platform engineering, and cybersecurity teams.
• Familiarity with Django, NATS, Kafka, Redis, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, OpenRouter, or LiteLLM.
