What you will do

• Evaluate English Language Learners using diagnostic and state-mandated assessments, set goals, and track progress.
• Provide direct English as a New Language instruction to small groups and inclusion support for ELA classes.
• Help English Language Learners access the general education curriculum, develop ELA skills, and use technology-enhanced learning tools.
• Participate in IEP meetings, case management, compliance activities, and accurate student data tracking.
• Advise teachers on curriculum modifications, accommodations, and sheltered content instruction.
• Analyze assessment data, differentiate instruction, communicate with families and colleagues, and support school-wide activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• New York State ESOL certification is preferred; bilingual certification is also preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of English as a New Language instruction and relevant academic subjects.
• Commitment to supporting urban youth, continuous professional growth, teamwork, and implementing feedback.
• Proven classroom achievement and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 by the start of employment.
• At least two years of teaching experience in an urban public or charter school setting is preferred.
