What you will do

  • Modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Develop and monitor 504 plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with families, special education teams, and general education teachers.
  • Deliver pull-out, push-in, small-group, and one-on-one specialized instruction.
  • Collect and analyze academic growth data, write goals, and prepare for annual IEP meetings.
  • Build positive relationships with students and families while supporting academic, emotional, and physical development.
  • Participate in professional development, mentoring, coaching, and weekly school-wide meetings.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development.
  • Interest in supporting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
  • Academic background in Special Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 before employment begins.
  • Independent teaching requires an MA special education license, an equivalent license from another state, or completion of an approved special education degree program.
  • Teachers without the required qualifications must work under direct supervision and pass the required MTEL examinations within the first year, including Communications and Literacy Skills and the relevant subject-area tests with SEI endorsement.

  • Prior full-time teaching experience.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external partners to support students.
  • Self-directed learning and a demonstrated ability to apply feedback.
