Principal Engineer - Electrification

What you will do

• Lead regulatory compliance strategy for electrification projects, including traction batteries, fuel cells, and other battery-based products.
• Coordinate future electrification plans with battery design, purchasing, and battery manufacturing stakeholders.
• Lead TSCA Pre-Manufacture Notice preparation, EPA Consent Order implementation, and related R&D exemption activities.
• Develop policy frameworks and Tactical Action Plans for regulations such as CARB Advanced Clean Cars II, EU Battery Passport, battery labeling, circularity, and end-of-life management.
• Implement Battery Extended Producer Responsibility requirements, including Battery Management Plans, collection strategies, communications, labeling, and reporting.
• Coordinate enterprise stakeholders, engage subject-matter experts, and report compliance status to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Chemistry or materials knowledge gained through education or experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in automotive, battery, or regulatory compliance work.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and create company policies and implementation plans.
• Strong communication, influence, negotiation, relationship-building, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage complex, multi-year projects and complete compliance, certification, and reporting activities on schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with TSCA, TSCA Pre-Manufacture Notice applications, EU Battery Passport regulations, or Battery Extended Producer Responsibility laws.
• Experience in materials development, quality engineering, or production engineering.
• Experience with Power BI.
• Master’s degree in business administration or engineering.
• Japanese bilingual skills.
