Senior Software Engineering Manager, Enterprise Software Engineering (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Austin, Texas or Warren, Michigan, with reporting to a specific location at least three times a week. Relocation benefits may be available under company policy. What you will do

• Lead multiple engineering teams across modern platforms, APIs, integrations, and legacy systems.
• Translate business strategy into technical roadmaps, KPIs, and delivery outcomes.
• Set architecture, quality, security, reliability, and engineering standards across the portfolio.
• Drive legacy modernization through decomposition, platform evolution, integration simplification, and technical-debt reduction.
• Deploy AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Copilot, and Cursor across the software development lifecycle, including custom agents, MCP servers, and agent-driven CI/CD.
• Own production health, incident response, hiring, mentoring, and continuous improvement based on DORA metrics, cycle time, and change-failure rate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering and people leadership experience, including leadership of multiple teams.
• Hands-on coding proficiency in Java or C++, with experience in Angular or React.
• At least one year of substantial production use of AI coding agents.
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, and legacy-system modernization.
• Strong communication, coaching, mentoring, stakeholder-influence, and technical decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and 7+ years in engineering leadership.
• Experience with LLM APIs, MCP, retrieval, evaluation harnesses, and organization-wide agentic development adoption.
• Experience with mainframe-connected enterprise systems and globally distributed teams.
• Knowledge of secure-by-design practices for AI-generated code and automotive standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434.
• Experience influencing executives in complex, matrixed organizations.
