Instructional Designer (InDesign) - Contract

Location: Remote, United States; work from home during standard daytime business hours.

Compensation: $35–$45 per hour, paid as a 1099 independent contractor.

What you will do

• Design instructor-led lessons, workshops, activities, and assessments for skilled-trades education.
• Write learning objectives, storyboard lessons, and develop activities that reinforce learning.
• Apply the ADDIE model and adult learning principles to create practical, learner-centered training.
• Transform technical and raw content into cohesive learning journeys.
• Produce student workbooks, trainer materials, assessments, and other learning materials in InDesign.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, curriculum designers, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of instructional design experience.
• Expertise in Adobe InDesign.
• Experience writing learning objectives, storyboarding lessons, and developing assessments and activities.
• Familiarity with the ADDIE model and adult learning theory.
• Understanding of instructional-material production and strong attention to detail.
• Availability for daytime business hours and calls while working remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience designing courses for skilled trades or related fields.

Culture & Benefits

• Project-based engagement lasting approximately three months, from mid-October 2026 through January or February 2027.
