TL;DR
Senior Manager, Federal Energy Programs (Energy): Leading complex federal energy programs for DOE, EPA, and other public-sector clients with an accent on program governance, project delivery, client engagement, and business growth. Focus on managing multidisciplinary teams, controlling scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, risks, and deliverables, and developing energy infrastructure, transmission, resilience, and grid modernization initiatives.

Location: Hybrid in the Washington, DC Metro Area; must reside in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia region and work onsite with federal clients up to three days per week.

Salary: $158,132–$192,000 anticipated base salary; the full stated pay range is $158,132–$268,824 annually.

What you will do

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering federal energy programs for DOE, EPA, state energy offices, and other public-sector organizations.
  • Manage program plans, schedules, budgets, staffing, performance metrics, risks, dependencies, and contract-compliant deliverables.
  • Develop technical analyses, reports, briefings, presentations, and recommendations for energy-sector initiatives.
  • Coordinate technical, policy, communications, contracts, finance, recruiting, subcontract, and quality functions.
  • Build trusted federal client relationships, identify emerging needs, and support capture, proposal, and staffing activities.
  • Manage subcontractors and partner organizations while supporting program mobilization, transition, and team integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline such as engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, economics, or another related scientific or quantitative field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience managing federal contracts, task orders, or programs.
  • Experience supporting DOE, EPA, or other federal agencies.
  • Experience managing scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, risks, deliverables, and quality.
  • U.S. citizenship and residence in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia region are required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and PMP.

Nice to have

  • PMP certification and current or prior DOE Q or L clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
  • Experience with DOE offices such as CESER, SCEP, EIA, NETL, or OE.
  • Experience in grid modernization, transmission, resilience, energy infrastructure, grant programs, or energy policy.
  • Experience leading teams of 10 or more personnel or managing projects exceeding $2–4 million annually.
  • Existing federal and public-sector energy relationships and experience serving as a federal Program Manager.
