Principal DevOps Engineer (GCP/Kubernetes)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; office-based work is expected for most teams.

Salary: $151,000–$244,200 per year

What you will do

• Architect and govern multi-region cloud infrastructure using Terraform and modular Infrastructure as Code.
• Design secure, resilient CI/CD workflows and platform engineering solutions for Cortex.
• Optimize GCP infrastructure for performance, multi-zone reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Advise product engineering teams on containerization, scalability, and observability.
• Lead complex incident escalations, post-mortems, and architectural remediation efforts.
• Build internal platforms, automated remediation frameworks, intelligent auto-scaling systems, and mentor senior engineers.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.
• 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Architecture.
• Expertise in GCP or AWS, complex networking, IAM governance, and multi-region architectures.
• Advanced Kubernetes expertise, including GKE or EKS, service meshes, ingress controllers, and scheduling.
• Strong Python or Go, Linux internals, shell scripting, and Terraform module development skills.
• Experience with enterprise CI/CD, GitOps, observability, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or PagerDuty.

Nice to have

• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing engineering directors.
• Expertise troubleshooting distributed systems, networking bottlenecks, and cloud infrastructure anomalies.
• Experience making autonomous, high-stakes architectural decisions.
