Software Engineer - DevOps (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; U.S. citizenship required for work on federal government contracts. At least 50% of each quarter is spent in the office or field.

Annual base salary: $137,000–$205,400 USD for the primary location. Additional U.S. locations: $123,900–$222,000 USD.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement the Kubernetes platform, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
• Build and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure platform components.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments using Terraform and Argo CD.
• Provide troubleshooting and platform support in collaboration with development teams.
• Implement security best practices and maintain compliance with applicable industry and federal requirements.
• Document platform components, share knowledge, and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across locations and time zones.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required for personnel working on the relevant federal government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; an active TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
• At least 5 years of hands-on infrastructure experience across on-premises or cloud environments, including systems architecture, networking, and security.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, concepts, and administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Argo CD, AWS production environments, and at least one programming language such as Go or Python.

Nice to have

• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, security auditing, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Docker, and Kubernetes.
