Transit Safety Manager

What you will do

• Lead service safety programs through post-incident reviews, safety audits, ride-alongs, and compliance monitoring.
• Analyze safety trends, conduct accident and incident root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans.
• Design, deliver, and improve driver onboarding, remedial, and refresher training.
• Provide hands-on instruction in wheelchair securement, passenger sensitivity, defensive driving, de-escalation, CPR, first aid, and emergency procedures.
• Evaluate driver performance through ride-alongs and skills assessments, providing coaching and feedback.
• Maintain training and compliance records, support DOT testing documentation, coordinate training schedules, and communicate with operations teams.

Requirements

• Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement required.
• 3+ years of experience in driver training, operations management, or field supervision, preferably in fixed-route and paratransit settings.
• Experience coaching, motivating, and managing performance across diverse driver teams.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols, ADA requirements, and DOT regulations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to train adult learners.
• Comfort balancing field work with administrative and compliance responsibilities; proficiency with LMS platforms, dashboards, and spreadsheets.
