Operations Manager, Street Lighting (Electrical Utility)

Location: Multiple locations across North Carolina, including Asheville, Burnsville, and surrounding areas

Salary: $160,000–$168,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.

What you will do

• Lead street lighting construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and service operations.
• Oversee field crews, supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, equipment, staffing, and operational resources.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to customer and utility requirements.
• Monitor productivity, quality, KPIs, project schedules, customer deliverables, and departmental financial performance.
• Manage customer and stakeholder relationships with utilities, municipalities, developers, and other partners.
• Coordinate with estimating, project management, Fleet, Purchasing, Safety, and Human Resources teams while supporting emergency restoration and after-hours response.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 8 years of experience in street lighting, electrical utilities, utility contracting, or related field operations.
• At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience leading crews and operational teams.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and financial performance.
• Knowledge of street lighting systems, electrical distribution, underground and overhead construction, utility safety practices, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.
• Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and Microsoft Office skills.

Nice to have

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with municipal street lighting programs and utility-owned lighting systems.
• Experience estimating, bidding, or managing service contracts.
• OSHA 30 certification and project management experience.
