Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer (Oil & Gas): Leading I&C design for FEED and detailed engineering phases across onshore and offshore oil and gas projects with an accent on control systems integration, process safety, equipment sizing, and ADNOC standards. Focus on conducting offshore site surveys, developing complex engineering deliverables, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, and ensuring compliance across brownfield and greenfield project phases.
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Office. The role includes travel to ADNOC offshore facilities on a rotational basis for site surveys, brownfield assessments, installation verification, and engineering data collection.

What you will do
- Lead instrumentation and control engineering design across FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.
- Define I&C design bases, standards, deliverables, specifications, procurement documents, and vendor engineering requirements.
- Develop and review instrument datasheets, instrument indexes, I/O schedules, control narratives, SRS documents, RFQs, TBEs, drawings, layouts, and control system modification scopes.
- Conduct offshore and onshore site visits, field verification, condition assessments, OEM control system adequacy assessments, and site survey reporting.
- Perform and review calculations and sizing for control valves, flow elements, thermowells, relief valves, and other instrumentation equipment.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, telecommunications, clients, vendors, licensors, and third-party stakeholders while managing technical quality, schedules, budgets, and interfaces.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of overall experience, including at least 8 years in instrumentation and control design engineering within the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with both onshore and offshore facilities in the Middle East, including greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Strong knowledge of DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC, RTU, SCADA, SIS, field instrumentation, hazardous area classification, IECEx/ATEX, and installation practices.
- Experience with ADNOC engineering standards and project requirements, as well as API, IEC, ISA, ISO, IEEE, NFPA, NACE, and BS EN standards.
- Strong leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, stakeholder management, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
Nice to have
- Valid OPITO-approved T-BOSIET or BOSIET and H₂S certifications with at least six months of validity.
- ADNOC EPC or PMC project experience.
- Professional certifications such as ISA, TUV FSE, EXIDA, or IEC certifications.
- Experience with AVEVA Instrumentation, SPI, INSTRUCALC, and other I&C engineering tools.
