Staff R&D Mechanical Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Solon, Ohio, US; travel up to 20% for customer support and off-site testing

What you will do

• Serve as the technical leader for assigned CADDY products and drive design standards, engineering best practices, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
• Lead product line extensions from concept through commercialization, including prototypes, testing, design validation, certifications, and production transfers.
• Lead global cross-functional teams and facilitate design reviews, FMEAs, risk assessments, and engineering decisions.
• Develop product specifications, test methods, and validation plans using analytical techniques, prototyping, and laboratory testing.
• Resolve manufacturing, quality, compliance, supplier, and field-performance issues while supporting customer visits and technical reviews.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to codes and standards committees.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Ideally 7+ years of experience in a related engineering field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks assemblies, modeling, drawings, and PDM/PLM systems.
• Knowledge of progressive die stamping, wire forming, spring steel components, cold forming, welding, and assembly automation.
• Familiarity with ASTM, material codes, UL, FM, and related industry standards.
