Optical Manufacturing Test Engineer (Photonics)

Location: Singapore. International travel is required.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end manufacturing test development, including equipment selection, tester specifications, bills of materials, test flows, work instructions, change control, and QMS compliance.
• Develop, assemble, validate, release, and maintain production testers for photonic components, modules, and systems.
• Design and execute optical and fiber testing, production calibration, characterization, and qualification activities.
• Analyze test results, yields, cycle times, throughput, and scrap to drive continuous improvement and manufacturing ramp.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, reliability testing, process control, SPC, GR&R, tester correlation, and test reporting.
• Collaborate with optical design, hardware, process, quality, software, IT, database, and contract manufacturing teams on DFM, DFT, NPI, operator training, and scalable test-data solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related field, plus 12 years of experience in high-volume optical transceiver manufacturing or automated test-system development.
• Expertise in optical test equipment and protocols, including optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, polarization controllers, and bit-error-rate testers.
• Hands-on experience with optical transceiver testing, yield analysis, manufacturing-process development, quality control, and reliability testing; experience with 400G, 800G, or 1.6T transceiver modules is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of SPC, GR&R, tester correlation, quality-management systems, optics failure-analysis processes, and test-report generation.
• Ability to write or adapt automation scripts using Python, LabVIEW, or Visual Basic; familiarity with processor communication interfaces and test-automation tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and good written and verbal English communication skills for collaboration, presentations, training, and mentoring.

• Data-query and statistical data-analysis skills.
