Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Salary: $179,100–$301,962 USD base salary for US-based employees; compensation varies by employment location.

What you will do

• Drive the architecture and development of the Atlas identity security SaaS platform.
• Design reliable, scalable microservices and infrastructure capable of processing billions of events and supporting millions of users.
• Translate business objectives, customer needs, and product strategy into technical requirements, architecture designs, and technology roadmaps.
• Lead architecture across application domains, data architecture, integrations, security, and cloud technologies.
• Establish engineering standards, review design documents, deliver production code, and lead significant platform projects.
• Mentor and coach engineers, influence product and engineering leadership, and communicate technical strategy to executives and external audiences.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing large-scale, enterprise-class, multi-tenant distributed SaaS platforms in a software platform architect role.
• Extensive experience with SaaS architecture, REST and other APIs, design patterns, messaging, security, availability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Experience decomposing monoliths and migrating to distributed systems.
• Knowledge of technologies such as Golang, Docker, Redis, Postgres, GraphQL, Python, Kafka, Terraform, Timescale, and AWS.
• Product mindset with strong business-to-technical translation, communication, collaboration, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Comfort using AI development tools, prompting, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop review of AI-generated code is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cursor, Claude Code, Python AI/ML libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy.
• Experience with PyTorch and foundation models or LLMs in Bedrock, Vertex AI, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of identity access management, enterprise security, CRM, ERP, or related domains.
