Principal Engineer Software (Prisma AIRS Core Services Backend)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States, with the role also stated as being based at the downtown Seattle office.

Salary: $156,400–$253,000 per year, plus potential restricted stock units and bonus.

Cybersecurity company building Prisma AIRS, an AI security platform covering model security, posture management, AI red teaming, and runtime protection.

What you will do

• Set technical direction for shared platform services and drive architecture decisions across the Prisma AIRS organization.
• Design, build, and optimize scalable backend systems and production security services.
• Own features through definition, design, implementation, testing, and production operation.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, designers, and infrastructure engineers.
• Mentor engineers and raise development and engineering quality standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building large distributed systems and cloud web services.
• Expertise in Go, Java, C#, C++, or modern typed Python.
• Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure; SQL/NoSQL databases; queuing systems; and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, comprehensive unit and end-to-end testing, and on-call troubleshooting.
• Experience leading large projects end to end and partnering with product managers and frontend engineers.
• Ability to work from the office 3 days per week is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j.
• Experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Grafana, and public cloud infrastructure.
• Experience using AI tools for design and development.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and software security.
• Degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
