Software Engineer III (AI/ML)

Location: United States - San Mateo, CA; flexible work environment including hybrid options and in-person orientation for all new hires.

US base salary: $114,000–$202,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, education, training, and location.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices and APIs powering AI capabilities across core solutions.
• Develop generative AI pipelines with LangChain, LlamaIndex, MCP integrations, and agentic reasoning patterns.
• Integrate and operationalize models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other LLM providers in collaboration with ML engineers and data scientists.
• Design and deploy ML models for predictive insights, anomaly detection, and automated decision-making.
• Design and extend MCP servers that expose and manage tools, context, and state for LLMs.
• Implement model evaluation and retraining workflows while meeting enterprise requirements for security, reliability, scalability, and performance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with exposure to AI/ML and backend platform development.
• Strong programming and debugging skills in Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, API design, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or CrewAI and patterns including RAG, ReAct, and agent-based reasoning.
• Experience building or integrating MCP servers and working with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini.
• Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, secure coding, PostgreSQL or DynamoDB, plus a BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience with additional AI/ML frameworks or cloud platforms.
• Exposure to insurance technology or enterprise SaaS environments.
• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects.
• Experience with ethical AI and governance best practices.
