Staff Software Engineer (Files Platform)

Location: Remote, USA; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship and able to start work in the U.S. on the first day.

Base salary: $158,000–$248,000 USD annually, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and maintain backend services for enterprise file storage, permission synchronization, and third-party integrations.
• Design event-driven systems for real-time permission propagation across financial graphs and external storage providers while meeting compliance revocation SLAs.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, security, and compliance partners on sensitive data access-control projects.
• Lead migration efforts such as FileVault-to-Box transitions, webhook consolidation, and folder structure evolution with zero-downtime production rollouts.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Build AI-powered file processing, metadata extraction, and content-aware workflow capabilities, and evaluate third-party file platform features.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
• Experience with server-side languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
• Experience with relational databases including MySQL, Postgres, or SQL Server.
• Ability to deliver complex projects involving partners across multiple teams.
• U.S. work authorization without current or future visa sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience building scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Experience working with file system vendors.
