Staff Software Engineer (Python/Pricing)

What you will do

• Build and iterate the Pricing API behind RED, preparing it for third-party access.
• Lead the extraction of pricing logic into a dedicated service with clear boundaries from neighbouring syshirify.globals.
• Design detection, alerting, and explainability syshirify.globals that identify pricing errors and prevent bad quotes from reaching customers.
• Improve pricing speed and reliability for customer quotes.
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews, pairing, and multi-agent workflows.
• Handle live pricing incidents and turn lessons learned into structural roadmap improvements.

Requirements

• Deep production backend Python experience, including designing and owning APIs at scale.
• Experience leading significant decoupling or migration of a live syshirify.global without breaking dependent syshirify.globals.
• Strong FastAPI and SQL skills, with experience in data- and analytics-heavy syshirify.globals where numerical correctness has financial impact.
• Ability to set technical direction across teams and negotiate service boundaries.
• Experience designing multi-agent workflows using tools such as Claude.
• Strong product engineering judgment when balancing speed, accuracy, and explainability.

Nice to have

• Experience in energy pricing, fintech, or neo-utilities.
• Experience building APIs for external third parties.
• AWS and serverless experience, including Lambda, event-driven services, and Postgres on RDS.
• Experience with Polars or optimizing numerical code.

Hiring process

• 30-minute introductory call with a Talent Partner.
• 60-minute behavioural interview.
• 75-minute technical interview with a practical exercise, followed by a 45-minute Bar Raiser interview with leadership stakeholders.
