Senior Applications Engineer (Water Treatment)

Location: Portland, Maine, United States; office-based role

Salary: $105,000–$150,000 annually, plus an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Develop high-quality technical solutions and proposals that support profitable growth.
• Inform commercial strategy, identify product and market opportunities, and improve proposal win rates and speed-to-customer.
• Coordinate with sales, design engineering, process subject-matter experts, operations, project delivery, safety, procurement, and vendors.
• Direct technical reviews for bid requests and contribute to risk evaluation and bid/no-bid decisions.
• Maintain accurate cost data for standard and custom equipment pricing with procurement and vendors.
• Ensure organized handoffs from awarded proposals to project execution.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering or an equivalent technical degree.
• 8+ years of experience as an applications engineer, process engineer, project engineer, project manager, or in a related role.
• 5+ years of experience with water treatment process systems solutions.
• Persuasive presentation and effective written and verbal communication skills across cultures.
• Experience bringing teams together to formulate winning bids and adapting strategy to customer needs.
• Willingness and ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license.
• Knowledge of business, competitors, legal and regulatory environments, and customer needs and challenges.
