Courier & Logistics Manager (Logistics)

What you will do

• Act as the main contact for project delivery requests and capture collection, delivery, access, timing, load, weight, and vehicle details.
• Load jobs onto the Courier Exchange, review carrier bids, and book suitable carriers for same-day, next-day, timed, urgent, and multi-drop deliveries.
• Liaise with drivers, brief them on site requirements, track live jobs, communicate ETAs, and resolve delays, failed deliveries, damaged items, or missing items.
• Coordinate with the Stores team to prepare materials, manage collection slots, organise paperwork, and arrange returns from sites.
• Manage the carrier pool, review insurance and performance, provide feedback, check invoices, and code courier costs to projects.
• Prepare delivery, cost, project spend, on-time performance, and failed-delivery reports while identifying process improvements.

Requirements

• Excellent organisation, time management, communication, telephone, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bookings, urgent requests, tight deadlines, and pressure while maintaining accurate records.
• Commercial awareness, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good knowledge of UK geography and vehicle types and payloads.
• Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to follow procurement, finance, Health and Safety, insurance, and restricted-goods compliance requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience using the Courier Exchange or a similar freight exchange platform.
• Previous courier, transport, or logistics coordination experience, ideally in construction, utilities, or telecoms.
