Senior Network Engineer III (Cybersecurity)

Location: Washington, DC, United States. The role supports mission-critical federal environments and may require work during government shutdowns, emergencies, or other critical situations.

Salary: $207,000–$320,000 per year, with potential performance-based bonuses and additional incentives.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention systems, and network access control solutions.
• Secure network perimeters and internal segments through segmentation, policy design, defense-in-depth, and threat mitigation.
• Deploy, manage, maintain, and upgrade firewall rule sets, VPN tunnels, and security policies.
• Respond to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and operational requirements in mission-critical environments.
• Support Zero Trust architectures, security hardening, technical planning, Agile execution, and risk discussions.
• Communicate security risks and mitigation strategies while serving as a hands-on technical subject matter expert.

Requirements

• Active U.S. Government-issued Top Secret security clearance or higher is required.
• U.S. work authorization and employment eligibility verification are required.
• 10+ years of network engineering experience focused on enterprise network security infrastructure.
• Security+ and at least one platform-specific security certification, such as PCNSE/Network Security Professional or a Cisco security certification.
• DoD 8140 certification aligned to the 441 Network Operations Specialist role, such as Network+, Security+, Cloud+, SSCP, CASP+, CISSP, or CCNP Security.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks, Cisco security technologies, Cisco ISE, Cisco ASA, IDS/IPS, endpoint hardening, VPNs, and Zero Trust architectures.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; relevant experience may substitute for education requirements.
