Staff Security Engineer, Network Security

Location: Houston, New York, San Francisco, or Seattle, United States

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD base salary per year, plus potential bonus, equity, and/or commission.

What you will do

• Define network security reference architecture and trust boundaries across corporate, OT/BMS, production management, customer management, telemetry, and site operations networks.
• Design segmentation patterns, firewall policies, routing controls, network access control requirements, and secure access principles for high-risk paths.
• Specify security requirements for local safety-critical telemetry where latency, availability, or physical operations require local control.
• Review data center, colocation, office, and site network designs before implementation decisions are finalized.
• Establish security standards and reusable checklists, diagrams, decision records, and deployment gates for third-party providers and future site builds.
• Define telemetry, logging, and detection requirements while partnering with infrastructure, identity, security operations, facilities, physical security, and external providers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in network security, data center networking, infrastructure security, enterprise network engineering, or a related engineering role.
• Hands-on experience with routing, switching, segmentation, firewalls, internet edge, WAN, remote access, wireless, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience designing or reviewing secure networks across data centers, colocation sites, offices, production environments, or distributed infrastructure.
• Experience securing OT, BMS, industrial, facilities, or other operational networks where safety, availability, and local control are important.
• Strong understanding of zero-trust principles, identity-aware access, least privilege, explicit authorization, and the limitations of location-based network trust.
• Ability to translate network designs into trust boundaries, required flows, security controls, monitoring requirements, and risk decisions.
