Staff Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States — Crossman Service Building home office

Annual salary: $143,000–$286,000, plus performance bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks.
• Develop full-stack features spanning React interfaces and backend services, with a focus on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Translate product requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.
• Build reusable React components and high-performance web applications with TypeScript, Node.js, and related technologies.
• Architect backend services with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs using distributed-systems best practices.
• Guide platform modernization and migration from legacy systems to modern cloud-native architectures while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computer science or software engineering field with 4 years of software engineering experience, or 6 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in React, Redux, TypeScript, ES6, Node.js, and front-end performance optimization.
• Experience designing and developing secure RESTful APIs and server-side JavaScript applications.
• Cloud experience with GCP or Azure and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and driving continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
