Staff Software Engineer (AWS/AI)

Location: Remote within the United States or Canada; in-office or hybrid work is available near company offices. The role may require travel to the corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or other offices across North America. Applicants must be eligible to work without sponsorship.

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 USD per year, plus a variable component in most US locations.

What you will do

• Lead technical design and development for enterprise integration and automation initiatives.
• Architect AWS-based microservices, APIs, event-driven flows, and secure integration patterns.
• Develop and support backend services, APIs, databases, and automation workflows.
• Guide engineers through design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production readiness.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Design AI and agentic automation use cases and drive production fixes through root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with hands-on backend development experience.
• Experience designing and building solutions on AWS Cloud.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, databases, authentication, and integration patterns.
• Experience with Workato or similar iPaaS automation platforms and AWS Bedrock.
• Ability to lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and manage stakeholder communication.
• Practical understanding of SDLC, testing, deployment, monitoring, production support, security, and compliance.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI automation, AI agents, LLMs, RAG, or agentic workflows.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Secrets Manager, SQS/SNS/EventBridge, CloudWatch, and IAM.
• Experience with SOX controls and audit-ready engineering practices.
