Principal CX/UX Designer (API Developer Platform)

Location: USA – Coppell, Texas; hybrid with eight office days per month at the closest office within 50 miles, working in the CT/ET time zone

Salary: $133,400–$238,400 USD annually, plus bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Lead the design vision and strategy for the Tax & Accounting API Developer Platform, including APIs, developer portals, documentation, SDKs, and AI tools.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to shape API contracts, roadmap decisions, and consistent API patterns around real developer scenarios.
• Design the complete developer journey from discovery and authentication through the first successful API call, debugging, and monitoring.
• Lead developer, administrator, and partner research, then validate solutions through prototypes, usability testing, and usage data.
• Define measures such as time to first successful API call, adoption, and developer satisfaction, and iterate with engineers based on real usage.
• Influence senior stakeholders, align teams around a durable developer-centered platform experience, and mentor designers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of UX or product design experience leading complex B2B, enterprise, or developer platform products, with a portfolio demonstrating measurable impact.
• Experience designing APIs, developer portals, SDKs, or technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of REST, authentication, error handling, and other API concepts, with the technical credibility to collaborate with engineers.
• Expertise in information architecture, user flows, high-fidelity prototyping, developer research, usability testing, and data analysis.
• Experience defining scalable design patterns and standards adopted across multiple teams, influencing technical leaders, and mentoring designers.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
