Senior/Staff Software Engineer - C++

Base pay: $160,000–$240,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize high-performance software in modern C++17/20.
• Build scalable and reliable software for Linux-based systems, including multithreaded and asynchronous architectures.
• Analyze, profile, and optimize CPU, memory, storage, networking, and I/O performance.
• Maintain and extend Python tooling for automation, testing, and data analysis.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and application engineering teams to debug cross-domain system issues.
• Contribute to architecture, technical design, code reviews, and ownership of software components throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience for Senior level or 8+ years for Staff level.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++17/20 and working knowledge of Python.
• Strong experience developing software on Linux.
• Strong understanding of operating systems, memory management, multithreading, concurrency, software architecture, and performance optimization.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills, with experience using Git and modern software development workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale commercial software, scientific instrumentation, data acquisition, or low-latency and real-time systems.
• Experience with Qt Widgets, Qt Charts, Linux systems programming, Embedded Linux, CMake, GDB, perf, or Valgrind.
• Familiarity with scientific computing, signal processing, physics, machine learning, CI/CD, automated testing, and hardware interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, PCIe, or Serial.
