Software Engineer - Simulation (Rust)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States, or South San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $151,000–$281,000 USD base salary per year, plus equity compensation in the form of RSUs for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Build the full surgical robot simulation, including dynamics, sensors, actuators, and product-stack interfaces.
• Test robot software and firmware against simulated hardware.
• Develop automated simulation tests covering scenarios, regressions, fault injection, and test coverage.
• Make simulation runs deterministic, measurable, and efficient enough for continuous integration.
• Reproduce hardware failures in simulation to accelerate testing and verification.
• Gather user feedback and iterate on the simulation system.

Requirements

• Strong Rust skills and Python experience for test tooling and analysis.
• Hands-on robotics or physics simulation experience with MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or an equivalent platform.
• Experience with asynchronous and concurrent systems, hardware interfaces, RPC, and telemetry.
• Experience building automated integration tests and debugging failures across software and firmware.
• Ability to use AI agents to accelerate development while maintaining quality.

• Experience with Bazel.
