Senior Staff Engineer Software (Cortex Platform & XSOAR)

Location: Hybrid role based in Santa Clara, California, United States

Salary: $134,600–$217,800 per year in base salary, with potential bonus and restricted stock units.

Cybersecurity company developing the Cortex AI-based security platform for security operations teams.

What you will do

• Lead the full lifecycle development of backend features and core components for Cortex products.
• Design, build, and maintain highly scalable distributed server-side applications.
• Develop shared platform infrastructure supporting Cortex XSOAR, XDR, XSIAM, and Cortex AI.
• Design backend services for XSOAR across SaaS and on-prem environments, including AI-driven security orchestration and response capabilities.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines, contribute to architecture decisions, and participate in code reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues and work with support teams and customers to deliver technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience building scalable server-side applications.
• 4+ years of hands-on programming experience with Go and Python.
• 5+ years designing distributed cloud products on GCP, AWS, or Azure, with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Advanced Linux/Unix skills, including networking and shell scripting, plus experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of distributed computing, including the CAP theorem, master election, split-brain problems, production troubleshooting, and customer response.

Nice to have

• Strong computer science fundamentals, including lock-free data structures, bloom filters, minimal perfect hashing, and consistent hashing.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools and internal engineering workflow automation.
