Staff Software Engineer, Financial Platform (Fintech)

Location: Remote or hybrid from listed locations in the United States, including Austin, Burlingame, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle. Hybrid employees in designated office locations work from the office approximately 2–3 days per week. Travel to a hirify.global office for onboarding is required.

Cash compensation: $163,000–$204,000 in Denver and most remote locations; $197,000–$247,000 in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York. Stock equity is additional.

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship backend services and APIs for money movement and financial integrations.
• Develop payment, settlement, reconciliation, and correction workflows involving customer funds.
• Build and support payroll integrations, KYB/KYC, 401(k) loans, billing, invoicing, and IRA workflows.
• Partner with product, compliance, operations, and engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
• Debug production issues and improve reliability, observability, and operational tooling.
• Mentor engineers and help solve complex technical problems at scale.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production products or platforms.
• Strong experience with services, APIs, and data-heavy workflows.
• Experience with financial systems, payments, or other high-correctness domains, or the ability to ramp quickly.
• Experience owning systems end-to-end, including production support and operational work.
• Experience collaborating with product managers and cross-functional partners.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails or a comparable backend framework, plus the ability to mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI tools or systems to accelerate development, improve testing, and deliver product capabilities.
• Curiosity about emerging AI frameworks and experience evaluating or scaling AI use safely.
