Senior Software Engineer, Client Apps Platform (Go/Ruby)

Location: Remote, United States

Base salary: USD $124,000–$329,200 per year, with potential benefits, annual bonus, and stock awards depending on role eligibility.

What you will do

• Maintain, extend, and operate production Ruby and Go services supporting hirify.global’s CLI, Desktop, and Mobile applications.
• Lead technical design and architecture discussions across product, client application, and domain service teams.
• Translate client requirements into shared platform components and drive adoption of reusable functionality.
• Integrate with and extend hirify.global’s Ruby on Rails monolith when required for domain work or migrations.
• Define testing strategies, success metrics, SLOs, telemetry, and safe rollout and rollback plans.
• Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response and postmortems, mentor engineers, and improve reliability, automation, and observability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• 5 years of experience designing scalable and reliable software systems.
• 5 years of experience facilitating cross-team technical discussions and communicating clearly in writing and verbally.
• 5 years of experience maintaining and operating live services, including monitoring, debugging, and incident response.
• Production software development experience in one or more listed languages, including Go, Ruby, Python, Java, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, or Rust.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Go and/or Ruby on Rails.
• Familiarity with GraphQL and RPC frameworks such as Twirp.
• Experience building platforms for mobile, desktop, and CLI applications.
• Experience extracting shared libraries or platforms from application codebases and extending large monolithic systems.
• Experience defining SLOs, telemetry, and observability tooling.
