Staff Software Engineer (Ruby/Rails)

Location: Remote in the United States

Salary: $200,000–$220,000 annual base salary, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Define the technical vision and architectural evolution of the Core Platform.
• Design and implement complex features for notifications, onboarding, authentication, integrations, and APIs.
• Partner with the Engineering Manager to guide technical direction and engineering excellence.
• Own cross-team dependencies, remove delivery roadblocks, and coordinate with multiple engineering teams.
• Drive Architectural Decision Records for major technical changes affecting the wider codebase.
• Mentor engineers and manage system evolution, configuration, and technical risk.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience developing complex software products and serving as a senior technical anchor.
• 5+ years of Ruby on Rails experience, preferably with large monoliths and large-scale systems.
• Strong experience with system architecture, technical design decisions, Architectural Decision Records, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with AWS or another public cloud, Linux-based infrastructure, and advanced database management at scale.
• Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-team coordination skills.
• Experience with AI coding tools and workflows, including responsible adoption across engineering teams.
