Corporate Credit Funds - Director (Chicago)

Location: Chicago, IL; hybrid schedule with office attendance Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Annual base salary: $150,000–$175,000

What you will do

• Lead new issuance rating processes for fund debt transactions backed by middle-market corporate loan portfolios.
• Assess capital structures, legal protections, collateral quality, portfolio composition, asset performance, and cash flow dynamics.
• Conduct due diligence with asset managers, direct lenders, arrangers, and issuers.
• Prepare rating memoranda and reports, present recommendations to rating committees, and monitor outstanding transactions.
• Build and maintain financial models covering collateral performance, cash flow coverage, stress scenarios, and structural resilience.
• Collaborate across credit disciplines, mentor junior team members, and contribute to analytical frameworks, research, and industry publications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Eight or more years of experience in corporate credit, private credit, direct lending, fund investing, CLO analysis, or structured finance.
• Experience reviewing legal documents and understanding liability structures, LTV and advance rates, payment priorities, and structural protections.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience building financial models for asset cash flows and debt repayment under stress scenarios.
• Ability to assess the creditworthiness of funds, assets, and counterparties and communicate findings through clear credit memos, reports, and presentations.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, time-management, and relationship-management skills.

Nice to have

• CFA or MBA.
• Familiarity with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and productivity.
